Thanks Joan! This is a great mushroom to eat if you can find them in a safe (not fertilized or poisoned) spot. They quickly turn to ink, so the advice is to warm the frying pan while you clean them.
I thought I was going to have to put up one of those “spongy” mushrooms to get a response!
The name of this shaggy fruiting body is “Coprinus comatus”. Sorry I have been slacking…..but finally got around to posting the official name of this fungi.
