I have a question: Do you know if oyster mushrooms can grow horizontally and/or vertically?
I am getting familiar with the oyster mushrooms so I would like to know if they only grow from “sides”.

Hello Mariana,
I have grown oysters on flat surfaces, as in a mushroom bed, but they prefer to grow from the side of something. There is a stemmed variety that grows more in a typical mushroom way, but the tree oyster likes to grow as it does in nature. On my burlap bags they like to grow where the bags are stacked together. Even though there is plenty of flat surface area they mostly grow from the seams. Thank you for your comment and let us know how you do.
